Part 1 of 12: Why Evangelical's Don't Engage in Spiritual Warfare (but should)!

It's important to note that the engagement in spiritual warfare and the approach to it can vary among individual Christians and even within evangelical communities. While some evangelical Christians actively engage in spiritual warfare as a means of advancing the kingdom, others may be less likely to do so for a variety of reasons. Here are some potential factors that may contribute to why some evangelical Christians are less likely to engage in spiritual warfare:

1. Theological Differences: Within the evangelical community, there can be theological differences regarding the interpretation of spiritual warfare. Some may hold to a more cessationist view, which believes that certain spiritual gifts, including those related to spiritual warfare, ceased with the early church. Others may hold a more charismatic view, which emphasizes the ongoing presence and use of such gifts.

2. Lack of Teaching and Understanding: Some evangelical churches may not provide extensive teaching or training on the topic of spiritual warfare. If individuals are not taught or do not have a deep understanding of the biblical basis for spiritual warfare, they may be less inclined to engage in it.

3. Fear or Misconceptions: Spiritual warfare can be a sensitive and sometimes misunderstood topic. Some Christians may fear engaging with the spiritual realm, believing it to be risky or potentially harmful. Misconceptions about spiritual warfare can contribute to hesitancy.

4. Focus on Other Ministries: Evangelical Christians and churches often engage in various forms of ministry, such as evangelism, discipleship, and social justice. Some individuals and congregations may prioritize these ministries over spiritual warfare or may believe that addressing social issues is a primary way of advancing the kingdom.

5. Different Church Traditions: The approach to spiritual warfare can vary among different evangelical traditions and denominations. Some may incorporate it into their regular practices, while others may not emphasize it as strongly.

6. Personal Beliefs and Convictions: Personal beliefs and convictions play a significant role in how individuals approach spiritual matters. Some Christians may not feel personally called to engage in spiritual warfare or may believe that their primary role is in other areas of ministry.

7. Lack of Awareness: Some evangelical Christians may simply be unaware of the concept of spiritual warfare or may not have encountered it as a significant aspect of their faith journey.

8. Individual Spiritual Maturity: The degree of spiritual maturity and personal faith journey can influence one's willingness to engage in spiritual warfare. Some individuals may gradually embrace this aspect of their faith as they grow spiritually.

It's essential to remember that the engagement in spiritual warfare is a matter of personal conviction and church practice within the broader evangelical Christian community. While some may be less likely to engage in it, others may view it as a central aspect of their faith. Ultimately, the decision to engage in spiritual warfare is a matter of individual conviction, theological understanding, and personal faith journey.
